Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to charge?

No. Follow the steps on the charger screen, choose a bundle, confirm, and charge. There is no account to create.

Do I need the app?

No. You can charge at any BulaCharge point without it. A BulaCharge app is planned and will add saved history, nearby chargers and notifications, but it will always be optional.

How do I pay?

At the charger. Choose a charging bundle in Fijian dollars, confirm, and the session starts. The payment options available at each site are shown on the charger before you start.

How much does it cost?

Charging is sold in fixed bundles in Fijian dollars. The exact amounts are shown on the charger page before you pay, so you always know the price first. There are no connection fees, subscriptions or idle penalties.

What if the charger fails to start after I have paid?

The session is refunded automatically to the payment method you used. You do not need to contact us, though you can if you want to tell us about a fault.

What plug types do BulaCharge chargers use?

Our DC fast chargers use CCS2, the standard on most new EVs sold in Fiji and the Pacific. Connector types are listed for every site on the network page. Check before you travel if your vehicle uses a different plug.

What is the difference between AC and DC charging?

AC charging is slower and suits places where a vehicle sits for hours, like a resort overnight. DC fast charging delivers power directly to the battery and can take most vehicles from low to 80 percent in under an hour.

How long does a charge take?

It depends on the vehicle and the charger. On a DC fast charger, most vehicles reach 80 percent in 30 to 60 minutes. Charging slows above 80 percent to protect the battery, so plan to unplug around then on a fast charger.

Can I charge overnight at a resort?

Yes. Many host sites are resorts and hotels where vehicles sit for long periods, which is exactly where charging makes the most sense.

Will I get a receipt?

Every session sends an SMS receipt, and the same summary appears on your phone screen when charging completes.

The charger says it is offline. What do I do?

Offline sites are marked on the network page. If you are at a site that shows as live but will not respond, contact us with the site name and we will check it remotely straight away.

I was charged but the session did not start.

Failed sessions are refunded automatically to the payment method you used. If the refund has not arrived within an hour, contact us with the reference from your SMS receipt.

Can I reserve a charger?

Not yet for public drivers. Fleet customers can arrange priority or reserved bays at network sites.

How do I become a host?

Use the contact form and choose Hosting a charger. We will ask for your location and roughly how long vehicles stay parked, and come back with a site assessment.
